Which plug matches my socket?
Three things have to agree: current rating, pin configuration and colour. Blue 2P+E is 230V single-phase, for single-phase tools, pumps and small machines. Red 3P+N+E is 400V three-phase with neutral, the five-pin arrangement used on most UAE machine and panel installations. Ratings deliberately do not cross over — a 32A plug will not enter a 16A socket even where the pin count looks the same.
What cable should I fit to it?
These are straight plugs for trailing leads, so the flex matters as much as the plug. Use flexible cable sized for the current the plug is rated at, and check the cable diameter against the gland: too thin and the grip cannot hold it, too thick and it will not seat. The gland and cord grip are what maintain the IP44 seal and take the strain when a lead is dragged across a floor, so tighten both properly: a trailing lead almost always fails at the cable entry first.
How do they hold up on site?
IP44 handles dust and splashing water on site. It does not cover a plug sitting in standing water or left out in sun and sand between shifts, so lift leads clear of the floor and store them dry. Fitting a plug to a lead and connecting that lead to a supply is electrician's work; never rewire one on a live lead.
