That figure is the duct spigot diameter, not the visible grille. The 17CUH at 170mm is sized for an ensuite, guest WC or small shower room. Will it fit my ceiling void?
A recessed unit needs depth above the plasterboard for the body and a gentle bend off the spigot, then a duct run to an outside face or ventilated shaft. Tight kinks and long horizontal runs cost airflow, so the shortest sensible route wins. Where the void is too shallow, a window or wall fan is the alternative.
Why put the fan overhead rather than in the wall?
