What size unit does my space need?
Tube wattage is the practical guide to reach, since UV-A output is what pulls insects in. A 6W unit suits a room-sized space — a kitchen, a shop counter, a small office. 20W covers a restaurant floor or a large majlis. 40W and twin-tube 40W models are for warehouses, loading bays and canteens, open volumes where a small unit would not be visible from the far end. If unsure, two smaller units spaced apart usually beat one large unit in the middle.
Where should the unit go?
Placement decides most of the result. Mount at roughly 2 to 2.5m, and keep the unit away from windows and bright fittings — anything competing with daylight attracts far less. Keep it out of direct air-conditioning airflow, the commonest reason a unit underperforms in UAE buildings, and site it away from doorways.
What does it cost to run?
Running cost is the tube and little else — nothing is sprayed and there is nothing to refill, apart from the glue pad on board-type models. Prices are in AED; plug-in models need no installation, while anything fixed at height in a commercial kitchen or warehouse should be put up by a licensed electrician.
