Which Dulux type do I have?
Take out the failed lamp and read the printing on its base. Dulux-S is the small single twin-tube on a G23 base, common in bulkheads and mirror lights. Dulux-D is the squarer four-tube lamp on G24, used in most recessed downlights. Dulux-T is the six-tube version on GX24, giving more output from the same fitting depth. Dulux-L is the long twin-tube on 2G11, stocked from 18W to 55W for wall washers and larger recessed fittings.
Two-pin or four-pin?
This is where most wrong orders happen. A two-pin lamp (G23, G24d) has its starter built into the base and runs on a magnetic ballast. A four-pin lamp (G24q, GX24q, 2G11) has no starter and needs an electronic ballast in the fitting. They are not interchangeable, and the wattage must match the ballast exactly. The number suffix on the base code keys each lamp to its wattage, so copy the full code across.
Should I move to LED instead?
Often, but it is not a lamp swap. LED replacements for PL fittings normally need the ballast bypassed or removed, which is licensed electrician work. If only a handful of lamps have failed, like-for-like is faster and cheaper. If a whole floor is reaching end of life, price the fitting change at the same time.
