A DIN-rail power supply is a switch-mode unit that clips onto the rail inside a control panel and turns incoming mains AC into a steady, regulated DC output — most often 24V DC, the standard rail for PLCs, sensors, relays, contactor coils and HMI screens. Regulation is the point: the output holds its voltage as the load changes, which mains-derived DC from a plain transformer will not do.
What do the input and output figures mean?
The input range is the supply the unit will accept. The ABB CP-S.1 listed here accepts 100-240V AC or 100-250V DC, which covers UAE mains comfortably. The output is quoted as voltage and current — here 24V DC at 5A, meaning it holds 24V while delivering up to five amps.
How much output current do I need?
Add the current draw of everything on the DC rail, then leave headroom for inrush when contactors and relays pull in. Undersizing shows up as nuisance dropouts under load, not as an obvious fault. We currently list this one model rather than a full voltage and current range.
