LIME Spa at Desert Palm Dubai Introduces Cult Beauty Brand Eve Lom!

That we shall be hot-footing it down to the LIME Spa tout de suite is a no brainer. All we have to do is decide which of the two signature facials to plump for; the 60 minute Ultimate Cleanse for 495 AED or really indulge ourselves with Eve Signature – a 90 minute facial for 620 AED, designed to address the skins needs through deep cleansing and exfoliation.

Both facials use the much lauded Eve Lom Cleanser, an award winning product famously hailed by Vogue Magazine as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’. More than just a cleanser this is a grooming ritual in a jar that will help transform the condition of the skin. It’s also known for being the ‘secret addition’ to those in the know, a must-have product among many high profile celebs.

We’ve had enough of being sand-blasted, it’s about time we gave our skin some much needed Lom Love. And did we mention that guests who book a one hour facial receive complimentary day use of the retreat’s infinity pool?

What are we waiting for?!

Ooh là là, Mademoiselle!

Following hot on the vertiginous heels of Blake Lively’s handbag campaign for Chanel, check out Keira Knightley pouting as if her life depended on it in this rather risqué video for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle fragrance.
Chanel Mademoiselle
The commercial was directed by Joe Wright, with whom Knightley worked while shooting Pride & Prejudice, and shows the actress sporting a beige leather catsuit and riding a motorbike to a modelling shoot at Chanel’s Paris apartment.

How slender does Keira look in that catsuit?! We want to know what you think – was Wallis Simpson right when she declared “you can never be too rich or too thin”?

We can’t help wondering if that form-fitting suit would look better on someone with more womanly curves.

Armani’s Femme Fatales

Italian fashion king Giorgio Armani’s label, which as de Luxe reported this month, has hired US actress Megan Fox for a sexy ad campaign. presented an all-black collection in Milan on Saturday, inspired by film noir crime dramas.

Models wore black, peaked caps pulled down low over their eyes, or dark glasses, and short, tailored jackets with concealed buttons – all designed to convey the secretive world of “international espionage” .

True to film noir’s visual style, a play on light and shadow accentuated silhouettes: sharply cut jackets and coats were softened with ruffles at the neck or puffed-out sleeves, from elbow to wrist. Sleek jumpsuits, satin culottes or cigarette-thin trousers puffed at the thigh were worn with vertiginous silver heels or with flat pumps. I’m sure the latter would be preferable for spies wishing to sneak up on their prey undetected.

A delectable collection set to bring an air of mystery to the masses or just a bevy of beautiful women wearing yet more black? We’ll leave that for you to decide….

Emporio Armani is available in Mall of the Emirates at the Emporio Armani store and in The Dubai Mall at Armani Dubai.

John Galliano suspended as Creative Head at Christian Dior

The flamboyant British designer John Galliano has been suspended from Dior following his arrest in Paris last night. His arrest comes just days before the unveiling of his new collection at Paris Fashion Week.

de Luxe is hearing two very different stories about the incident.

One source has reported “witnesses said (Galliano) swore heavily, using anti-Jewish insults, before attacking a couple. Both have provided witness statements, as have a number of other people at the bar, including staff.”

However, Vogue UK reports that another onlooker said it was a completely different situation. “We had a table at La Perle and John Galliano sat next to us. He spoke to a couple at a nearby table to say ‘Cheers’ and they insulted him. An argument started and the police came, so Galliano’s bodyguard suggested that they should go to the police station to sort it out. He wasn’t ‘busted’ aggressively by police; it was very quiet and peaceful. I definitely didn’t hear him say anything anti-Semitic, or against any religion; it was all very calm.”

Galliano, who has been Dior’s acclaimed creative director for 14 years, has been suspended from all duties during a police inquiry into the altercation in a bar in the Marais district of Paris. Galliano, 50, who took the creative reins of Dior in 1996, has been based in Paris for 20 years. He is a regular face in the Marais where he’s often seen cruising the streets in his classic yellow taxi.

So is this the case of an outburst prompted by stress before fashion week? After all, Galliano must put himself under intense pressure each year to top his traditionally eccentric and lavishly decorated shows. An investigation is underway. We will be watching this one with great interest…

Not Just Cavalli

An eventful day for the flamboyant Roberto Cavalli yesterday, back in Dubai to celebrate his latest triumph.

Roberto Cavalli Group and Pragma Group announced the signing of a new master License Agreement for the opening of five new Cavalli Clubs and 15 new Cavalli Cafés in the next five years, in some of the world’s most celebrated cities across the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and South America including Beirut, Istanbul, Mumbai, Shanghai and San Paolo.

Roberto Cavalli already operates two Cavalli Clubs in Firenze and Dubai – the latter established under a License Agreement with Pragma Group – in addition to a Just Cavalli Club in Milan and three Cavalli Giacosa Cafés in Florence.  Successfully opened little more than a year ago, Cavalli Club in the UAE will be used as the guiding light for the expansion.

“I am extremely proud of the achievements of the Clubs and Cafés which carry my name and the Cavalli Club Dubai represents probably the best interpretation of the lifestyle I have been creating with my fashion,” said Roberto Cavalli, Founder and Chairman of Roberto Cavalli Group . “Together with the experience of the Pragma Group we will further expand the network of Clubs for entertaining my followers in some of the most important cities in the world.”

The first two-year phase of investment will see two Cavalli Clubs opening in two cities alongside another three cafés, introducing the Cavalli Club and Café concepts to five new cities overall. In the second phase, which is expected to last three years, an additional 10 outlets will be launched in similarly suitable cities. This initial roll-out of the Cavalli brand will be financed through a fund dedicated to expanding Pragma Group’s lifestyle business and is said to be in the region of a cool $150 million.

Catfights and Spotlights

The most successful female act of the 21st century (according to the Guinness Book of Records) – British band Sugababes, will play an intimate gig as part of the F1 entertainment programme next month.

The chart-topping trio Amelle, Heidi and Jade will perform at Longitude Bar in the Yas Hotel on Yas Island on November 13.  Gabrielle and Corinne Bailey Rae will also give concerts over the weekend.

The events on November 12, 13 and 14 are being billed as exclusive evenings as only 250 tickets will be available and audience members will be close to the stars.

John Lickrish, the managing director of Flash Entertainment, which is organising the event, said the aim was to add “diversity” to an already broad F1 programme.

Concert-goers do not have to be Grand Prix ticket holders. People enjoying the free Yasalam 2010 concerts can buy tickets to the events.

Tickets cost Dh800 for general admission. VIP tables for six people cost Dh7,500.
Tickets can be bought on www.thinkflash.ae or by calling 800 35274.
